Avro 3 Irlam 0

Avro bounced back from defeat on Saturday against AFC Liverpool as they beat Irlam 3-0 at The Vestacare Stadium.

Avro started well, putting pressure on Irlam from the get go, with Afuye doing well down the left and putting the ball into the box not long after the game had begun.

15 minutes into the game, Avro scored an early goal – Liam Ellis received the ball, held it up before giving it to Danny Byrnes who ran with the ball before putting it past the Irlam keeper.

Jordan Latham, who was making his 100th NWCFL appearance for Avro, did well to save a Irlam header from a corner shortly after the restart.

Not long after, Lewis Lacy made it 2-0 who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper after a defensive mistake by Irlam.

Avro continued to create chances and went into half-time 2-0 up.

Irlam did have a spell early into the second half, having possession of the ball for long periods, but couldn’t quite create a good chance.

Sam Rathbone was sent off for a 2nd bookable offence 10 minutes into the 2nd half.

Avro weren’t seeing as much of the ball as the first half, but that was ok as they defended well.

Louis Potts made it 3-0 to Avro, when Jake Cottrell hoofed the ball over the top, and Potts latched onto it before putting the ball past the keeper at his near post.
