After just one competitive fixture between April 2nd and July 29th, our new look Avro squad will play a minimum of nine games between our first league fixture at Northwich and our last game in August, a trip to the Recycling Lives Ground to face Longridge Town.
There are some interesting similarities between the first month of our 22-23 league season and our opponents twelve months ago; our first seven league games of our last Premier Division campaign also included trips to Winsford United and Northwich Victoria, as well as a visit to the Vestacare Stadium from Padiham.
However, rather than again hosting Irlam in a league game this year in August, we travel to the RG3 Digital Stadium this year in an FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie. The outcome of this game will determine whether we play for a ninth time in the month, with Saturday 20th August set aside for the Preliminary Round. And if we do progress, we could potentially play twice against Barnoldswick Town in the space of four days, as having travelled to the Silentnight Stadium in the league on Tuesday 16th, we would then face the winners of their match-up with Albion Sports at the Vestacare.
However, undoubtedly the biggest fixture of the month will come on Tuesday August 23rd, when we play Bury AFC for the first time in a league game. This game has been moved forward 24 hours to accommodate our trip to Emley in the FA Vase, which is now being played on the evening of Friday 26th August because our opponents share their ground with a cricket club.
Our attendance record is likely to be broken at this fixture, so please do take advantage of the opportunity to buy tickets online when they go on sale later this month via the link on our brand new website.
