Eleven weeks to the day since our first team last played a competitive fixture at the Vestacare Stadium, we are back in action this Wednesday in our first home pre-season friendly against Radcliffe FC.
We came out on top last time the two sides met in a Manchester Premier Cup last season, but the visitors have made some eye-catching signings during the close season and we may yet see history being made in this game.
Former Bolton, Reading and Galatasaray midfielder Jem Karacan is Radcliffe’s most recent acquisition, and this could therefore be the first time that a player with Champions League experience has set foot on our hallowed turf. Latics fans may also get the opportunity to see their former midfielder Nicky Adams in action after he joined the Northern Premier League side earlier in the summer.
On Saturday we play our second home game in three days, when Daisy Hill are the visitors to the Vestacare. In recognition of the partnership which we have recently announced with #hergametoo and as part of our plans to expand our girls and ladies football provision significantly over the next three years, we are offering all female supporters the opportunity to attend this fixture free of charge. There will also be a girls game taking place on the pitch immediately before the main event kicks off. We hope to see you all at either or both of these games this week.
