After disappointment midweek with a 3-1 defeat away against Kidsgrove Athletic, Avro are back at home this weekend as we welcome Bootle to The Vestacare. With just six league fixtures remaining, this is the start of a crucial run in for The Ro, who sit just a point away from league leaders Bury. With plenty of twists and turns yet to come, we head into this fixture knowing that we could end the afternoon top if results elsewhere go our way.

Founded in 1880, Bootle play their home fixtures at The Berry Street Garage Stadium. The club were Everton FC’s main rivals before Everton saw a successful application into the Football League in 1888. Bootle were invited to become founding members of the Football Alliance league the following year. After being promoted to The NPL West in 2021 thanks to having the best points per game ratio. They have endured mixed campaigns so far with their best coming in the 2023-24 season after finishing 4th before being narrowly beaten 1-0 in the play-offs against Prescott Cables. They head into this fixture 7th in the league, sitting 7 points away from Vauxhall Motors who occupy the final play-off position.

Avro will be looking to improve on their head-to-head record this weekend against Bootle. This will be the sixth league meeting between the sides. In the previous five encounters, Bootle record four victories with the sole victory from Avro coming here at The Vestacare last season in a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from James Dwyer. Earlier in the season, Bootle recorded a 3-2 victory in dramatic fashion thanks to a 92nd minute winner from Ben Hodkinson after a double in the second half from Kyle Hawley levelled up at 2-2.
