After consecutive defeats against Kidsgrove and Bootle, Avro responded well at the weekend in a convincing 3-1 victory away against Shifnal Town. Now, just 48 hours later, The Ro are back in action at The Vestacare in their penultimate home fixture of the season when we welcome Trafford. Grant Shenton will be looking for consecutive victories in as many days as we continue to chase Bury at the top of the NPL West.
Despite their league position, Trafford have been a rejuvenated side as of late which has provided them with real optimism over their survival hopes. After a slight set back of Stafford Rangers winning at the weekend, Trafford will be hoping to reduce the gap back to six points, a feat Avro will be looking to avoid.
We hope to welcome as many fans as possible inside The Vestacare to make it an Easter Bonanza and all support of the squad is, as always, much appreciated.
Trafford:
Founded in 1990, Trafford play their home fixtures at The Shawe View Stadium. The club’s most successful period was in the 1996/97 season, winning The North West Counties League and securing promotion to The Northern Premier League. They have played in The Northern Premier League West since the 2018-19 season after the league re-organised the divisions and they were allocated into The West division. After a disappointing campaign, they currently sit 20th in the league on 29 points, sitting 6 points away from safety with just four league fixtures left to play. A key man for the visitors is Charlie Frost who has notched 12 league goals in just 17 league appearances so far.
Head to Head:
The sides have met on five occasions in The Northern Premier League West so far, with Avro remaining unbeaten throughout these meetings. It continues to be a close affair with three draws and two victories for Avro, a record in which Grant Shenton will be looking to extend to six here this Bank Holiday Monday. In the previous meeting earlier in the season, Avro claimed their second victory against Trafford thanks to goals from Harry Salt and Kyle Hawley. In what was a stalemate at half time, it was Avro who prevailed stronger in the second half.
