Avro are on the road again tomorrow for the second time this week as they travel to face Kidsgrove Athletic tomorrow, Saturday 7th December.
The Ro have enjoyed a great couple of weeks, after remaining unbeaten in November, they continued that form into this month after a convincing 3-1 away win at Clitheroe earlier this week. This positive run of results puts Avro up to 3rd in the form table after collecting 13 points from their previous 6 league fixtures.
The sides met twice last season with both games ending in a stalemate. At The Vestacare, the match ended 1-1. A strike from Muis Bibire Bello was cancelled out in the 89th minute by Callum Lovatt. In the return fixture, both sides had to settle for a point again, this time in a 2-2 draw. This time, it was Avro’s turn to come back from behind to claim a point. Goals from Harvey Washington and Callum Lovatt put the hosts 2-0 up at the break before Avro responded in the second half. Jamie Rother and Kane Wallwork both found themselves on the scoresheet as Avro brought the game back to draw 2-2.
Avro had the 3rd best away record in the league last season. Bootle topped this table and only goal difference separated The Ro and Leek Town. After recent away wins at Vauxhall Motors and Clitheroe, Avro will travel to Kidsgrove with confidence knowing they’re more than capable of leaving with maximum points.
Kidsgrove have enjoyed a steady season so far, currently sitting mid table in 11th, just 5 points off the play off places. They have plenty of experience up top with Matt Rhead and Tom Pope being key players in their squad. It was Rhead who delivered in dramatic style for Kidsgrove last weekend as he struck in the 97th minute to secure maximum points in a 1-0 win over Trafford. Kidsgrove have kept 6 clean sheets on home soil this season from their opening 10 league matches so Avro will be keen to put pressure on this defence early on.
It’s a double midweek matchday for Avro next week as they host Hednesford Town on Tuesday night and Bootle on Friday night. These two fixtures are also dedicated fixtures for our cash for kids’ campaign as we support those less fortunate this Christmas. Any support for these fixtures would be greatly welcomed as we look to continue our positive run of results.
