Match Preview: Mossley v Avro

Just 48 hours after a defeat against Shifnal Town at The Vestacare, Avro return to action tomorrow afternoon when we make the short trip to face Mossley.     This rounds off a busy bank holiday weekend and is our 3rd league fixture in the space of a week. The Ro will be looking to return to winning ways after two narrow defeats in a row against Bootle and Shifnal Town.

With our FA Cup fixture coming this weekend, Avro will be looking to put an end to a brief losing stint in the league and get back to winning ways both in the league and as positive preparation for this tie with Nantwich Town.

Mossley:

Mossley were formed in 1903 under the name of Park Villa. In 1909, they became Mossley AFC and moved into their current ground, Seel Park in 1912. They hold a strong history of success with their most recent success being Manchester Premier Cup winners in the 2015-16 season after beating Stalybridge Celtic. After 4 league fixtures at the start of the current campaign, they currently sit 17th in the league after 3 draws and 1 defeat. After the departure of David Fish, Alex Craddock is now in charge of The Whites and will be looking to guide Mossley to their first league victory of the season tomorrow.

Head to Head:

Since promotion to The Northern Premier League West, the sides have met 4 times, 3 of which have resulted in a draw. With the one difference being New Year’s Day win at Seel Park for Avro to commence 2025 in positive fashion after a strike in the 80th minute from Liam Ellis. Apart from the 2-2 draw at The Vestacare last season, the meetings have been relatively low scoring in what has proved to be a battle of defence rather than attack so the neutrals in attendance tomorrow will be hoping for a change in this perspective.
