Not long into the match, Darrhyl Mason could have put the Ro ahead as a well-placed ball found him at the far right post. Despite winning the header, Mason was unable to put it on target so narrowly missed the chance.
In the 17th minute, Taylor Dyson played the ball into the box from a corner and despite not having enough height for it to reach anyone, Jack Kenny was able to read the trajectory of the ball, meeting it at the far post. Kenny would volley it into the top left corner of Dallimore’s net to open the scoring.
Around the 20th-minute mark, Daarrhyl Mason cut inside the box and had a shot on goal. His shot was blocked by Atherton Collieries, but the ball bounced back out into the centre of the box for James Simms, who sent it into the back of the net with his first touch.
Nearing the end of the half, the visitors had themselves a freekick a few yards outside the box. The ball was sent over the wall and onto the post, where it ricocheted towards Javid Swaby-Neavin, who easily slotted the ball into the net to spring hope for the Collieries.
The start of the second half saw the Collieries have plenty of chances, with their best chance coming in the 49th minute, when Samuel Sheridan attempted a long-range shot. Luckily, despite the power of the shot, it lacked accuracy and went flying out for a goal kick.
Around the 50th-minute mark, substitute Sam Davidson whipped the ball into the area for Darrhyl Mason, who managed to win the ball in the air and redirect it towards the net. Unfortunately, his header was saved by the Collieries keeper.
In the 63rd minute, Darrhyl Mason managed to beat his man and square the ball into the box for substitute Kieron Molloy. Despite his perfect positioning in front of the net, Molloy missed the ball and the opportunity to put the Ro ahead by two goals.
Nearing the end of the match, Sam Davidson once again played the ball into the box for the awaiting Darrhyl Mason, who then beat his man and had a shot on goal. Despite the keeper getting his hand on the ball, it still managed to bounce over the line for the match winner.
