Avro secured their first win under Lewis Hardcastle and Jack Hindle last night after a 3-2 win over local rivals Ashton United at the Vestacare Stadium
Not long into the match, the Ro had a free kick on the edge of the box, where Sam Davidson stepped over it, looking to take the shot. The midfielder sent the ball flying past the wall and straight at the keeper, who fumbled it, letting it roll to Harry Salt. Salt pounced on the chance and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Around the 15th minute mark, Darren Ehimamiegho whipped the ball into the box, looking for one of the Ro’s strikers, but instead found James Simms, who curled it into the bottom right corner for the second goal of the night.
It didn’t take too long for the Ro to add a third to their tally as a clean through ball found Darren Ehimamiegho, who charged into the box and smashed the ball past the keeper for three.
Before the break, Sam Davidson had the opportunity to make it 4-0 to the Ro through a free kick on the edge of the box. The Ro’s number 8 smashed the ball past the wall and aimed for the bottom right corner, but Tommy Taylor made the stop to keep the scoreline locked at 3-0.
The second half saw a complete momentum shift as the visitors began to hammer the Ro’s box, looking for a goal to get back into the game. In the 61st minute, the Robins had multiple chances within the minute to make it 3-1, but somehow, Jon Vilar Robinson and the entire Avro backline managed to keep the ball from going over the line.
Around the 75th minute, Harry Salt had the opportunity to kill the game off as he barged his way into the box, beat the keeper and sent the ball towards the bottom right corner of the net. However, his shot hit the post instead and bounced right into the keeper’s hands.
A few minutes after Harry Salt’s missed chance, Ashton United went down the over end, and after a scramble in the box for the ball, Charlie Naylor put the ball into the back of the net and kick-started the visitors’ hope to rescue a point.
Around the 80th minute mark, the ball was played through a gap in between the Ro’s back line for Mikey O’neill, who held off his man, and slotted the ball past Jon Vilar Robinson for 3-2, bringing the Robins faithful hope that they can secure a point.
Fortunately for the Ro, they were able to hold strong and keep the narrow one-goal lead to secure their first win and three points under Lewis Hardcastle and Jack Hindle!
