Avro’s Manchester Premier Cup Journey comes to an end after two late second-half goals by Mossley’s Joe Berks and Gee Baltazar.
Not long into the match, Mossley found themselves with a great chance to take the lead as Kgwakgwa played a beautiful ball through the Avro midfield and defence for Baltazar. Thethrough ball allowed the Mossley winger to get himself in a 1-on-1 with Cam Mason, but the Ro’s keeper made a spectacular save to win the 1-on-1 and rescue the visitors early on.
In the 25th minute, Mossley had another great chance to take the lead through Baltazar once again as Rowe played a cross into the box for Baltazar at the far post, where he redirected the ball towards the net. Luckily, Cam Mason reached the ball and made the save to rescue the Ro.
Nearing the end of the first half, Joel Igwenwanne played a beautiful through ball into the box for Owen Warburton, whotipped the ball over the keeper. Unfortunately, for Avro’s number 11, his shot hit the post and bounced back into the keeper’s arms.
Around the 60th-minute mark, Avro had multiple chances to take the lead due to Adam Owen crossing the ball into the Mossley box. Both Igwenwanne and Warburton had the opportunity to put the Ro ahead, but their shots were deflected away from the Mossley net. Luckily, the ball landed at the feet of substitute Kane Hickman, who only needed to tap the ball into the back of the net to put the Ro ahead. Unfortunately, he whiffed his shot and sent the ball out of the box, giving the hosts a goal kick.
In the 76th minute, Mossley substitute Joe Berks dribbled past Fortune Maphosa, lobbed the ball over Cam Mason, and into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to the hosts with 14 minutes left to go in the match.
With one minute left, Gee Baltazar found himself free inside the box with the ball and decided to have a shot. Luckily for Baltazar, the ball deflected off an Avro defender, went high up in the air, and went over Cam Mason before it landed in the back of the net to make it 2-0 to Mossley, winning the game for the hosts.
