Match Report: Wythenshawe Town 2-2 Avro

Avro settled for a point at Ericstan Park after Wealth DaSilva and Dan Dollings scored to rescue Wythenshawe Town in the second half. This comes off the back of a draw against Newcastle Town at Vestacare Stadium.

Not long into the match, Ryley Smith was brought down in the hosts’ box, giving the Ro a chance to take the lead after eight minutes. Kyle Hawley would step up and slot the ball into the left side of the net to make it 1-0 to Avro.

A few minutes later, Cian O’shea was forced into action as Wythenshawe Town broke into the box and fired the ball towards the right-hand side of the net. Luckily, O’shea was able to get low to save the shot, keeping the Ro in the lead.

Around the 30th-minute mark, Kyle Hawley found himself through on goal once again after a well-placed through ballfrom the middle of the park. He would calmly put the ball into the back of the net to extend the lead for Avro.

It would take long for the Ro to have another chance to extend the lead as Avro found themselves on a counterattack with Smith leading the charge. He played the ball towards Hawleyas he got into the box, but instead of having a shot, he squared it to Oliver Putnam, who was able to take a touch before pulling the trigger. Unfortunately, his shot was brilliantly blocked by a Wythenshawe Town defender.

It was a poor start to the second half for the Ro as Dan Dollings managed to find the back of the net after a beautiful ball by Dylan Woods found Dollings at the far post in the 57th minute.

In the 71st minute, the hosts sent the ball into the box for Wealth DaSilva, who was waiting at the far post to slot it in; however, his header hit the side netting, keeping the game at 2-1 to the Ro.

Eventually, after constant pressure from Wythenshawe Town, the hosts found their equaliser from a corner. The ball was played into the box, looking for someone on the far post, but Kane Hickman was the only one to get on the end of it. However, he accidentally sent the ball back into the box for DaSilva, who volleyed it into the bottom left corner of the netto make it 2-2.

Unfortunately, despite having two great chances in the final moments of the match, Avro was unable to find a winner and disappointingly settled for a point against Wythenshawe Town.
