Ro Add Showman and Vilar Robinson to squad

Avro have strengthened their centre forward and goalkeeping options with the signings of Harry Showman and Jon Ander Vilar Robinson.

Showman made his first team debut for Salford City last season and also spent some time on loan at Atherton Collieries, whilst Vilar Robinson is no stranger to Ro fans, having had a couple of loan spells with the club whilst on Burnley’s books.

Both played key roles in yesterday’s 3-1 win against a Blackburn Rovers XI, with Showman opening the scoring and Vilar Robinson making a fine penalty save.

Manager Grant Shenton had this to say about the two new signings:

‘Harry is a player who was highly sought after, and I’m over the moon he’s chosen to join us this season. He knows the ambition we all share in the changing room and wants to be part of this young, exciting group. I’m sure the lads will welcome him with open arms.’

‘We had a challenge replacing the goals and quality Kyle and Daryl left behind, but bringing in Benni, Jacob and now Harry, alongside Jimmy and Salty, means we’ve built a more than formidable frontline. We now have five very strong and very different options, and it’ll be exciting to see them all pushing each other throughout the season.’

‘Jon is another fantastic addition. Replacing Cam was a priority, and one I knew wouldn’t be easy. Jon is a keeper I know and one I trust, and alongside Luke, we now have two young, exciting goalkeepers we can call upon whenever we need them.

‘It also means we now have two strong players in every department, which is a position I’ve never been in before and one I certainly won’t take for granted. It’s an exciting time for the club.’
