Avro Football Club proudly hosted its annual Awards Evening last Friday at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham. This highly anticipated celebration united the entire Avro FC community, welcoming everyone from our youngest U6 players through to our First Team squad, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared achievement.
The evening provided the perfect platform to honour the exceptional dedication, commitment, and accomplishments demonstrated by our players, coaching staff, and support personnel throughout all age categories. The night was characterised by moments of genuine pride, joyful celebration, and the sharing of cherished memories from what proved to be another remarkable season.
Robert Fuller, Chairman of Avro Football Club, shared his reflections on the evening’s significance:
‘Our Awards Evening is the one chance that we get all year to get everyone who represents the club together in the same room, and I was delighted to see so many parents and players take up that invitation. It was a brilliant night because of that, and I am already looking forward to next year’s event being even bigger and better’.
For the second consecutive year, The Queen Elizabeth Hall served as the venue for this momentous occasion, welcoming players and families as they gathered to celebrate outstanding performances and commemorate the many highlights that defined another triumphant campaign for Avro FC.
Our Annual Awards Evening remains a fundamental tradition within our club calendar, perfectly reflecting our core principles of inclusivity, player development, and community engagement. As we take time to appreciate the achievements of the past season while eagerly anticipating the challenges ahead, we maintain our unwavering dedication to cultivating talent and inspiring passion for football across every level of our Club.
Each of our Junior Teams enjoyed their moment in the spotlight during the ceremony. Individual recognition was bestowed through three distinct categories of awards: the Managers Player award, the Parents Player award, and the Players Player award. Furthermore, every single player received a trophy as a lasting memento of their valuable contribution to the 2024/25 season.
The club also took the opportunity to present Special Recognition Awards to outstanding individuals whose contributions have made a lasting impact on our organization. The Volunteer of the Year award was presented to John Brereton in recognition of his selfless dedication and countless hours of service to the club. Our U18s Girls team was honoured as Team of the Year, acknowledging their exceptional performance and team spirit throughout the season.
Paul Litten received the Coach of the Year award, celebrating his outstanding leadership and development of young talent. The Sports Person Award was presented to Harry Salt, recognising his exemplary conduct and achievement both within our club and in the broader sporting community. Finally, Chris Kennedy was monored with the Long Service Award, acknowledging his years of faithful commitment and contribution to Avro Football Club.
The club extends its heartfelt gratitude to Micheal Afuye, who assisted with the presentation of awards throughout the evening, bringing additional prestige to the ceremony. We also wish to express our sincere appreciation to all our sponsors and partners who generously donated prizes for our raffle, helping to make the evening even more special for all attendees.
