Avro secure three points and return to winning ways after a 4-2 victory against Workington AFC at the Vestacare Stadium
Ten minutes into the match, Brennan Dickenson was sent through behind the Ro’s defence and saw that Jon Vilar Robinson was off his line. He attempted to send the ball over Avro’s keeper to put the visitors ahead, but Robinson managed to save it and kept the scoreline level.
Three minutes later, Darren Ehimamiegho won the ball on the right-hand side and whipped the ball into the box for Harry Salt, who leapt high and headed the ball past Alexander Mitchell to make it 1-0 to the Ro.
In the 23rd minute, Workington played the ball into the box from a corner, and at the near post was Brennan Dickenson. Dickenson managed to head the ball into the bottom right corner for Workington’s equaliser despite being heavily marked.
Around the 40th minute mark, Workington almost took the lead through Luke Ellis, who received the ball on the edge of the box and sent it flying towards the net. However, he put too much power behind it, sending it over the bar and out of the stadium.
Not long into the second half, Harry Salt, Benito Lowe, and Max Harrop had plenty of chances to put the Ro ahead, but Workington’s defence managed to block each chance made, keeping the scoreline level at 1-1.
In the 53rd minute, Taylor Dyson crossed the ball into the box aiming for the far left corner, where Harry Salt was waiting to pounce. Salt won the header and slotted it into the bottom left corner to make it 2-1 to the Ro.
Around the 70th minute mark, Avro substitute Harry Showman was played through the Workington defence, and squared the ball back into the box for Benito Lowe, who tapped it home to make it 3-1 to Avro with plenty of time left to extend the lead.
A few minutes after making it 3-1, Lowe had a poor touch on the ball and allowed one of Workington’s defenders to get back to try and stop him. However, Lowe spun around and sent the ball flying towards the net, where it hit the post and bounced in to make it 4-1.
