Avro’s preparations for their third season in the Northern Premier League have received a big boost with the news that three experienced players have all committed their immediate future to the club.
Defenders David Fitzpatrick and Deane Smalley have both agreed to return for the 25-26 season, and midfielder Harry Bunn has also decided to extend his stay at the Vestacare Stadium.
Smalley was the first of the three to join the club back at the start of the 23-24 season, and since then has racked up over 70 appearances, even deputising at centre forward on occasions when the need has arisen. Fitzpatrick joined later on during that campaign and has been pretty much an ever present since then, whilst Bunn is a much more recent recruit, scoring on his debut against Congleton Town back in February.
Manager Grant Shenton had this to say about the trio’s decision to commit to the club:
‘I am over the moon to be able to confirm that Deane, Bunny and Fitzy have chosen to stay with us for another season. Their commitment is a huge boost to our plans and aligns perfectly with the squad we’re building. The impact of retaining these three can’t be overstated – they’re central to our vision.’
