Avro return to league action on Wednesday as the Ro welcome Lancaster City to the Vestacare Stadium. Last time out for Avro, it was a 2-0 win over Dunston UTS at the UTS Stadium in the FA Trophy, with this win securing a place in the First Round Proper, where the Ro will now face Hyde United at home.
Since 2017, Lancaster City have been participating in the Northern Premier League Premier Division after winning the NPL Division One North in the 2016/2017 campaign. Last season, City finished in 6th place, missing out on the playoffs by a single point. Lancaster come into this game after defeating Ilkeston Town 2-1 at the Giant Axe.
Your support would be much appreciated this Wednesday as the Ro look to keep up their amazing form in the league.
Lancaster City:
Founded in 1911, Lancaster City has seen them all over the English non-league pyramid and even close to joining the English Football League. Their early years were spent in the Combination League, and during that time, they had an unsuccessful bid to join the Third Division North of the Football League, but in 1970 the club finally left the Combination League to join the newly formed Northern Premier League. In the 1981-1982 season, the Dolly Blues resigned from the NPL and dropped into the North West Counties Football League, where they remained until 1987, when they were accepted into the newly formed NPL Division One. Eventually, City earned promotion back to the NPL Premier and even went one step further and earned promotion to the newly established Conference North; however, the club entered financial difficulties and folded once again. Fortunately for City, they reformed and were accepted back into the NPL Division One. In the 2017/2018 season, Lancaster City won the NPL Division One West title, earning promotion back to the NPL Premier Division for the first time since 2004 and since then, the Dolly Blues have remained at step 3. This season, City look to make the playoffs and finally earn promotion to the National League North.
