Avro will be looking to make quick amends from a midweek defeat away against Darlaston Town when we welcome the league leaders Lower Breck to The Vestacare this weekend. It promises to be an exciting fixture as, a win for The Ro, will see them summit the table replacing the visitors. It has been a long awaited fixture since The Ro left Anfield Sports Centre with 3 points after a 3-0 victory.
With it being unclear how long our and the league top goalscorer Kyle Hawley will be out for, The Ro will go into this fixture knowing that goals will have to be found elsewhere. With Avro overcoming many hurdles already this season, Grant Shenton will be confident that this is another challenge which will be solved quickly.
Lower Breck:
Founded only in 2010, Lower Breck have come a long way in a short period of time and started the season in The Northern Premier League West for the first time in their history. They enjoyed success from the start and had reached the North West Counties North by 2018. After missing out on promotion during Covid through points per game, Breck were promoted to the NWCFL Premier Division in the 2020-21 season. They reached an incredible 106 points last season, narrowly beaten to the title by Bury. But after carrying on this form into the play-offs, they comfortably claimed promotion and have adjusted to life well in the NPL West. After 24 league games, they sit top of the NPL West, 2 points ahead of Avro and four ahead of Bury.
Head to Head:
The sides last met in early November in an inaugural Northern Premier League West meeting between the two. It was a resounding win for The Ro as they claimed a statement 3-0 win. Avro headed into the break 2-0 up thanks to a stunning goal from Jake Cottrell and another powerful strike by Kyle Hawley. Ryley Smith made it 3 in the 70th minute and The Ro held out for a massive win. Grant Shenton will be hoping that Avro can recreate this performance this weekend as a win will see The Ro summit the table.
