Match Preview: Avro v Runcorn Linnets

Avro are back in action for the final time in October when we welcome Runcorn Linnets to The Vestacare this coming Wednesday. In what has been an exciting period of late for The Ro. A win or a draw will see Avro extend their unbeaten run to 10 league games and would see them unbeaten in October. This comes on the back of a 1-0 win against Stalybridge Celtic last weekend when a goal in the 91st minute from Sam Davidson clinched all three points for Avro.

They face a Runcorn Linnets side that have a busy schedule ahead in the league as a result of their recent progression in the FA Cup and FA Trophy. They head to The Vestacare on the back of a 2-2 draw with Stafford Rangers at the weekend, but will feel they should’ve left with more having been 2-0 up. As always, it’s expected to be another tough

Runcorn Linnets:

Runcorn Linnets were founded in 2006 by a supporters trust, replacing the original Runcorn FC which folded due to financial problems. After initially ground sharing with Witton Albion, they moved into their current stadium in Murdishaw in 2010. They began their journey in the North West Counties Football League Division Two for the 2006-7 season. They joined the Northern Premier League in the 2018-19 season and have recently enjoyed three consecutive play-off campaigns. However, defeats against Marine, Workington and City of Liverpool have seen them keep their place in the NPL West. They will be hoping that this is the season their promotion fortunes change for the better.

Head to Head:

In the four meetings between the sides in the NPL West, Avro have found this a tough fixture to overcome having only claimed victory once. However, Avro can take confidence that this came in the last meeting between the sides at The Vestacare with goals from Kyle Hawley, Jake Cottrell and Liam Ellis sealing a 3-1 win for The Ro. It has proved to be an encounter which favours the home side with 3 of the 4 meetings being won by the home side. If the trend continues on Wednesday, Avro would much welcome this result and would end the month unbeaten from their six league fixtures.
