Match Preview: Bamber Bridge vs Avro

Avro are on the road tonight as we travel to the Irongate Stadium to take on Bamber Bridge for the second match of the season. The Ro come into this game after a 2-1 win on the first game of the season against Leicestershire side Quorn FC.

Since 2018, Bamber Bridge have been a staple side in the Northern Premier League Premier Division and last season, Brig finished in a respectable 12th place with 50 points. Last time out for Bamber Bridge, it was a 2-0 defeat on the road to Cleethorpes Town.

We call on your support for our first adventure on the road this season. It would be much appreciated to see your support at the Irongate Stadium tonight, and we wish you safe journeys if you play to join us.

Bamber Bridge:

Founded in 1952, Bamber Bridge have been on a slow rise up non-league since joining the English pyramid back in the 1990/1991 campaign, and their most recent seasons have shown this rise has paid off. In the 2022/2023 season, Brig were one step away from participating in the NPL Premier Division playoffs as they finished in 6th place, and missed out on the last promotion space by two points. A season later, Bamber Bridge finished in the top three, which qualified them for the playoffs, where they battled for promotion to the National League North. They scrapped their way to the playoff final to face Warrington Town, who were just too much for the Preston side as they lost 1-0. Since that playoff final, the club have been in a recession period, finishing in 16th and 12th over the past three seasons, but now look to change that fortune this season and get back into the race for promotion.
