Avro secure their second victory of this campaign after defeating Bamber Bridge 6-1 at the Irongate Stadium in a dominant performance.
It didn’t take long for the Ro to take the lead as Adam Owen, on the right-hand side, whipped the ball into the box and found Ryley Smith. Smith leapt above everyone to win the ball, before sending it over the keeper and into the top right corner for the first goal of the match.
In the 27th minute, the Ro looked to have doubled the lead through Harry Showman, who slotted the ball past the keeper and into the net, but as it hit as it went in, the linesman had his flag up for offside.
Ten minutes after his offside goal, Harry Showman was played through behind the Brig defence and found himself in a 1-on-1 with only the keeper to beat. Fortunately, Showman was able to get the ball past the keeper and put it in the net for the Ro’s second goal of the day.
Just before half-time, Benito Lowe was given space on the edge of the box to have a shot at goal, which he took no time to take. His shot was hurled towards the net, but the hosts’ keeper, Goodness Gospel-Eze, narrowly made the save to keep Lowe’s shot out.
Straight from the restart, Harry Showman managed to square the ball into the box for Benito Lowe, who held off his man before firing the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0 to the Ro.
In the 65th minute, Harry Salt was on the charge on the left-hand side before being taken out by Ashton Cookson. Cookson received his second yellow card and was sent off, adding to the already disappointing day for Bamber Bridge.
Around the 70th minute mark, Bamber Bridge’s Archie Lang received the ball in the Avro box and volleyed it into the top right corner to get the hosts a goal back.
Not long after conceding that goal, the Ro responded with a goal of their own as Ryley Smith was played through into the box, slotting the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net to make it 4-1.
Three minutes after Ryley Smith’s brace, the ball was crossed into the box, straight to an unmarked Harry Salt, who then headed the ball into the net to make it 5-1 and get his first goal of the season.
In the 79th minute, Harry Salt received the ball in the box and somehow failed to convert his shot, hitting the post. However, luck was on his side as it ricocheted back out to Salt, who attempted to put the ball into an open net, but his second chance hit the other post and this time went out for a goal kick.
Just before full time, Harry Salt was once again played through behind the back line and this time converted his shot to make it Bamber Bridge 1, Avro 6.
