Avro secured another three points after defeating Nantwich Town 1-0 at home, with Harry Salt getting the goal to seal the win.
It was not a great start for the Ro as Nantwich found themselves with an amazing chance to take the lead in the 16th minute. Nantwich managed to pass their way through the Avro back line and into the open space to have a shot. Luckily, Chiekh Thiam managed to recover and prevent the goal from happening.
Unfortunately, despite Thiam’s amazing block, the Ro was still on the receiving end of chances. Around the 30th-minute mark, Nantwich played the ball into for Oliver Finney, who controlled the ball and fired it towards the net. Luckily, his shot was off target and didn’t cause any threats for Cam Mason in net.
Nearing the end of the first half, Harry Salt plays a beautiful through ball for a wide-open Kyle Hawley. Hawley took a few touches and sent the ball flying towards the bottom right corner of the visitors’ net, but his chance narrowly missed.
Within the first few minutes of the second half, Harry Salt found himself in some open space in the box with only the keeper to beat. From the tight angle, Salt fired the ball at the post, where it ricocheted off the crossbar and back into the centre of the box, but no one got on the end of it.
In the 50th minute, Chiekh Thiam whipped the ball into the box, looking for someone at the far post. His cross met with the smallest player on the pitch, Harry Salt, who easily headed the ball into the back of the net to finally break the deadlock.
Not long after the goal, Ryley Smith had the chance to double the lead as he dribbled his way through the Nantwich midfield and pulled the trigger just outside the box. His shot was initially saved by the keeper, but bounced into the path of Sam Davidson, who could have easily put the ball in the back of the net. Before Davidson could shoot, a Nantwich defender was able to slide in and tackle the ball away from Avro’s number seven.
Nearing the end of the match, Nantwich had an amazing chance to take the lead. Harry Bower was able to bring the ball down before sending a power low-driven shot towards the net, but his shot was prevented by Cam Mason, who got low and pushed the ball aside to rescue the Ro’s win.
