Avro were dealt a huge blow after a 3-1 defeat to the hands of league leaders, Lower Breck, which now sees the Liverpool outfit move five points clear at the top of the table. The first few minutes of the match were full of chances for the Ro, with Harry Salt having the best chance out of the bunch as Adam Owen sent a low cross into the box for Salt. Avro’s number 10 took a few touches before attempting to lob the keeper. Fortunately, for Lower Breck, Theo Roberts was able to swipe the ball away from the net. Around the 30th-minute mark, the visitors were awarded a penalty after a handball by Avro’s Captain Jack Morrow. Lweis Buckley would step up and take the penalty, but his shot was saved by Cam Mason. Unfortunately for the Ro, after the penalty, Buckley received the ball and worked his way around the defence before sending the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
Just a minute after Lower Breck opened the scoring, a mistake in the back line allowed Buckley to get in behind with the ball. He would chip Cam Mason and extend Lower Brecks’ lead.
With five minutes left of the match, Lower Breck found themselves on another attack with Liam Morris leading the way. Morris would keep his distance from Fortune Maphosa before curling the ball into the top left corner to make it 3-0 to Lower Breck.
Early on in the second half, Avro had themselves a chance to score as Isaac Modi and Sam Davidson worked together on the right flank to whip the ball into the box for Harry Salt. Salt managed to win the ball in the air and redirect it towards the net, but unfortunately, his shot would go wide.
Not long after the missed shot, Harry Salt dribbled his way into the Lower Breck box before squaring it to the Ro’s debutant, James Smimms. After receiving the ball, Simms attempted to slot the ball into the bottom right corner of Breck’s net, but his shot was once again saved by Roberts.
In the 83rd minute, Avro had another opportunity to get a goal back as Jake Cottrell sent the ball flying towards the bottom left corner of the net from 10 yards out. However, despite his shot being on target, it was saved by Theo Roberts.
Three minutes later, the Ro would play the ball into the box from a corner, and it would be headed down towards the line by Darren Ehimamiegho before Fortune Maphosa tapped the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-1. Unfortunately, his goal came too late for any major impact.
