Avro secured another win in the league after an excitingmatch against Chasetown FC ended with the Ro leading 2-1
Early on in the match, Chasetown managed to create a chance as Jack Langston found some space outside the box to send a lobbed through ball to Joey Butlin, who managed to connect with the ball. Unfortunately for Chasetown, Butlin sent the ball over the bar, wasting the amazing chances they created for themselves.
In the eighth minute, Jake Cottrell spotted the keeper miles off his line and decided to fire the ball towards the net, hoping to score around 40 yards out from Chasetown’s net. Beautifully, Cottrell’s shot flew through the air and landed in the back of the net to make it 1-0 to the Ro in amazing fashion.
Around the 30th-minute mark, the Ro almost extended their lead as Sam Davidson sent the ball into the box from a corner. His play found the head of Kane Hickman, who redirected the ball towards Chasetown’s net, but his shot narrowly missed the net and went over the crossbar.
In the 36th minute, a well-placed ball from a Chasetown corner found the head of Mitch Clarke. He guided the ball towards the net to give the visitors their well-needed equaliserwith nine minutes remaining of the first half.
With the second half underway, the Ro began to pressure the Chasetown area, looking for the goal to put themselves ahead once again. Eventually, Harry Salt snuck his way into the boxwith the ball, kept it from going out after being tackled and cut it back for Sam Davison to easily slot it into the net to put the hosts ahead once again.
Not long after the goal, Avro had themselves a great chance to take the lead, as a great run by the forwards saw the ball sneak its way into the box. Sam Davidson had the opportunity to score and put the Ro two goals up, but just before he couldhave a shot, he was excellently tackled by Chasetown’s defence.
Around the 70th-minute mark, Chiekh Thiam found some space on the right flank to play the ball into the box for Kyle Hawley or for substitute Darren Ehimamiegho. The full-back’s low driven cross was deflected off a Chasetown defender, and almost went into the net if not for Curtis Pond, who pulled off a phenomenal save to keep the game at 2-1.
Nearing the final whistle, Darren Ehimamiegho had an opportunity to put Avro ahead by two goals as he timed his run to hopefully put space between him and the Chasetown defence. Unfortunately, the pass to Ehimamiegho was delayedfor too long, so when it reached the substitute, he was called offside.
