Match Report: Avro 3-0 Stafford Rangers

Avro secured a festive three points after defeating struggling Stafford Rangers 3-0 at the Vestacare Stadium

In the seventh minute, Sam Davidson played a great ball into the box for Adam Owen, whose Initial header went backtoward the centre of the box. However, a Stafford player hit the ball back onto Owen’s head and into the net to put Avro in the lead early on.

Around the 20th-minute mark, Avro had themselves another chance to score as Harry Salt ran through the Stafford defence and fired the ball towards the net. Just before his shot reached the keeper, a Stafford player flew in to block the shot, rescuing his side.

Not long after Salt’s chance, Stafford Rangers managed to break into the Ro’s box with a ball over the top of the defence, but just before one of Stafford’s players reached the ball, David Fitzpatrick cleared it away and accidentally caught the player’s leg, leading to Stafford to scream for a penalty. The referee ignored these claims and gave the visitors a corner.

Nearing the end of the first half, Avro found themselves with a free kick at the edge of the area, with Jake Cottrell standing over it. He stepped up and sent the ball curling towards the bottom right corner of the Stafford net, but his shot narrowly went wide.

Early on in the second half, Kyle Hawley worked his way through the Stafford defence and into open space to have a shot on goal. Unfortunately, his effort was dragged wide and wasted the chance to extend the lead.

Nine minutes into the second half, Kyle Hawley and Harry Salt found some space behind the defence to have a chance on goal. Hawley took the ball before Salt got to it and fired the ball into the net at the keeper’s near post to make it 2-0 to the Ro.

In the 65th minute, Kyle Hawley and Stafford’s keeper got into a scramble on the edge of the Stafford box for the ball, and this led to the ball bouncing into open space behind the keeper for Harry Salt. The Ro’s number 10 would tap the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0 to Avro.

With ten minutes left till full time, new signing Belchor Rodrigues broke into the box and attempted to fire the ball into the net for Avro’s fourth of the day, but he dragged his shot wide.
