O’Shea Joins On Loan From County

Avro have secured the services of young Stockport County keeper Cian O’Shea, who joins the club on loan for a month as cover for the injured Cam Mason.

After joining the Hatters at the age of 15, O’Shea made such an impression in their Academy that he was offered and duly signed his first pro contract last November. He has also made a string of appearances for the Republic of Ireland’s U19 side, and trained with the senior goalkeepers at the club.

‘I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to come to Avro’, said O’Shea after yesterday’s defeat at Bootle. ‘I knew that the plan was for me to go out on loan this season and get more minutes in men’s football, as it is very different from playing for the U21s and thus an important part of my development.

‘However, it all happened really fast – I only found out I was coming here yesterday! I have already got some experience in non league football as I went out on loan to Stockport Town last season, so I am really looking forward to getting more minutes under my belt.’

O’Shea’s calm and composed performance belied his tender years, and we also look forward to seeing more of him in the coming weeks. Welcome, Cian!
