Muis Bibire Bello’s 87th minute equaliser was enough to earn the visitors a point from a tough encounter against a strong Witton side at the U Lock It stadium, as the Ro maintained their unbeaten record on the road.
Captain Jake Cottrell made his first start of the season in the centre of the park, with the two Maxes, Davidson and McCarthy, the other changes to the starting eleven three days earlier against City of Liverpool. The deadlock was broken after just eight minutes, when a long clearance by Grant Shenton led to a misunderstanding in the home defence, and Liam Ellis took advantage to net his third goal of the season.
Witton drew level just before the half hour mark, when Oli Roberts curled a free kick from just outside the area into the top corner with his left foot. And it was the home side who started the second half stronger, with an unmarked Ollie Hitchcox heading them in front from a corner to complete the turnaround.
The last third of the game saw chances come and go at both ends, with Shenton and home keeper Wright called into action on numerous occasions. However, with time running out, Bibire Bello latched onto a ball from Cottrell, and after twisting and turning on the edge of the area, he produced a cool finish into the bottom right corner to draw his side level.
Albion had two great opportunities to secure all three points in injury time but both went begging, and in the end a draw was about the right result on an afternoon when both sides demonstrated their qualities in abundance.
