After conceding their first goal and subsequently suffering their first defeat of the 23-24 campaign, Avro will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon as they travel to a ground which yielded a positive result on the last occasion that they paid it a visit. That was on the opening weekend of the 22-23 season, when a second half goal by Liam Ellis was enough to secure a 1-0 against Northwich Victoria, who ground share with our next opponents.
The opposition
Witton have spent eight of the last twelve seasons in the Northern Premier League, and finished just four points outside the play off positions in sixth place last season. They are yet to taste defeat in their opening three league encounters, having drawn their away games against Vauxhall Motors (2-2) and Bootle (1-1), with a 2-1 home win against Mossley sandwiched in between those two results. They have also progressed to the first qualifying round of the FA Cup after a 2-1 success at near neighbours Congleton Town, and will now visit Lancaster City next weekend.
Last time we met
As will be the norm with the match previews in the first half of this season, there have been no previous meetings between the two sides.
Look out for….
Harry Wright is the son of former England, Ipswich, Arsenal and Everton keeper Richard, so how could he play anywhere else but in nets…..previously with Ipswich and Fleetwood, Harry joined Witton earlier this month and has played in their last two fixtures.
