Avro secured another victory after defeating local side Hyde United 1-0 at the Project Solar Stadium after an early goal from Harry Showman
Only four minutes into the match, Harry Salt sent the ball through the Hyde defence and in behind for Harry Showman, who charged towards the net and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0 to the Ro.
Not long after the goal, Benito Lowe almost doubled the lead as Taylor Dyson played the ball to the Ro’s number nine, who attempted to put the ball into the bottom right to make it 2-0, but his shot strayed wide at the last second.
In the 20th minute, Hyde had their first major chance of the day as the Tigers captain, Jack Redshaw, dribbled his way into the box, getting around Adam Owen and Jack Morrow to have a shot on goal. Jon Vilar Robinson was forced into action to save and parried the ball back out for Morrow to clear away.
Nearing the end of the first half, Hyde had one more chance to get an equaliser through Redshaw once again. Taylor McMahon whipped the ball into the Avro box and found Jack Redshaw, who was completely alone in the box. Redshaw then headed the ball towards the bottom right corner, but instead went wide.
The start of the second half saw Hyde almost score their equaliser as Dan Martin got on the end of a long throw-in; he turned and attempted to smash the ball into the top right corner, but his shot went narrowly wide of the post.
Around the 60th minute mark, Taylor Dyson won the ball on the right hand side of Hyde’s box and squared it to Avro substitute Jacob Holland-Wilkinson, who attempted to fire the ball into the net to make it 2-0. However, Hyde were able to stop the attack just in time, blocking Holland-Wilkinson’s shot.
In the 82nd minute, Hyde almost had their equaliser as multiple players inside the Avro box attempted to slot the ball past Vilar Robinson. The first few attempts were blocked by Adam Owen on the floor, then the final chance was saved by Vilar Robinson, stopping the ball before it crossed the line and saving the Ro from a late equaliser.
With three minutes added on, Avro had one more chance to double their lead as Jacob Holland-Wilkinson had a chance from the very edge of the box. His shot beautiful curled towards the top left corner of Hyde’s net, but frustratingly, it hit the crossbar and bounced away. After that chance, the referee called for full time, sealing the three points for the Ro.
